It’s back, and it promises to be just as much fun as ever — Equality Health Foundation’s Sixth Annual Healthy Fall Festival & Turkey Giveaway takes place this year on Saturday, November 19 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Maxine O. Bush Elementary School (602 E. Siesta Dr., Phoenix, Arizona).
As always, the festival and every one of its activities — from admission to the health screenings to the many giveaways — are completely free. You just need to be there!
Time To Rebuild
The Healthy Fall Festival is an opportunity for families, neighbors and community resources to get together. This year, all the festival activities take place in person and are open to everyone. Each one gives you an opportunity to learn about your health and help you stay healthy.
“With the steadfast commitment of valued sponsors and community partners,” said Tomás León, President, Equality Health Foundation, “we’re able to support residents on their recovery journey to achieve optimum health and well-being.”
Over the years, Equality Health has strengthened its commitment to combine caring, community and good health. Equality Health has always believed in the “meet me where I am” approach. In other words, they meet you where you are with the resources and caring support you need to be healthy and whole. The Healthy Fall Festival is Equality Health’s way of showing how these essential elements can help you achieve a healthy and happy life. And right now, with the worst of the pandemic hopefully behind us, it’s time to restore and rebuild.
“Locking arms to serve neighborhoods significantly impacted by the pandemic in the Roosevelt School District is more crucial than ever,” said León. “Our goal is to reach even more families this year and contribute to building healthy and thriving communities.”

A Healthy Start
When it comes to the holidays, everyone wants to be healthy and happy. The Healthy Fall Festival is a great way to start the holiday season.
The festival will continue offering free COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. This is your and your family’s opportunity to get current on your COVID-19 vaccinations, take a COVID-19 test to make sure you don’t have the virus and receive a free flu vaccination to help prevent or lessen the impact of this year’s expected flu virus.
It only makes sense to take advantage of every one of these. COVID-19 is not going away, and health providers expect cases of the flu to be unusually high this year.
Grab the Giveaways
At the free health education and screening booths, you can learn health tips and receive free screenings and tests, such as a free mammogram and breast health screening and get your blood glucose tested for diabetes. Education booths also include community resources available for the whole family. Learn about community organizations that can connect those in need with available resources. This information is for people who need it the most, whether it’s you, a family member or a friend.
“We know there are families in our community that struggle to bring home food and pay rent and utilities,” said León. “This is why we want to break some of those barriers and deliver this information virtually to homes that need it the most.”
Last, but not least, you can grab a free Healthy Food Box with Frozen Turkey. But remember, the supply is limited to the first 1,000 people and there’s only one per family. So come early, learn healthy and leave with your hands full!
