Listen in on “Cafecito Time con Equality Health” for tips on how to get the most out of your medical appointments.
Equality Health’s commitment to creating a new culture of care continues with the newly launched “Cafecito Time con Equality Health” series. These on-demand, virtual conversations are casual, community-driven dialogues that are providing education and trustworthy information to our community members throughout this public health crisis.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently called for medical and dental check-ups to be resumed despite the pandemic. The topic for the next “Cafecito Time con Equality Health” that’s scheduled for today, Thursday, August 27, is ‘How to Make the Most of Your Next Visit to the Doctor’. This topic is of great importance now more than ever because of the ongoing pandemic coupled with the return to school. Back-to-school is the time of year that most children go to the doctor for their yearly check-ups and vaccinations. It is very important to be as well prepared as possible in order to manage your family’s medical appointments.
“What we look for with these talks is to be better prepared when we take our children or parent to a medical visit, even ourselves. Much of the time the consultation is fast and we forget what questions we have for the doctor,” said María Rebozo-La Pine, Manager of Cultural Care for Equality Health, who will also serve as moderator for the virtual conversation.
“One of our recommendations when visiting the clinic is to have a list of medications that is being taken, supplements, and other home remedies that have been utilized, as well as the symptoms that are being experienced,” said Rebozo-La Pine.
In addition to teaching community members about good health habits, it is worth noting that Rebozo-La Pine also works to educate Equality Health’s network of doctors on how to deliver healthcare that is culturally sensitive, so members get the highest quality care possible.
Another of the topics that will be discussed at the August 27 “Cafecito Time con Equality Health” is how to give health information to your doctor that affects both you and your family and how to you make visits more productive.
“It’s important to be prepared for our medical visits because it can affect our diagnosis and medical treatment. In this “Cafecito Time con Equality Health” the tools on how to get the most out of your next medical visit will be provided,” commented Rebozo-La Pine.
“Cafecito Time con Equality Health’” will be on August 27, held both in Spanish and English, and transmitted live through Zoom and Facebook Live.
For those who want to “have their coffee” in English, the conversation will start at 11:00a.m., and for those who prefer Spanish, please tune in at 12:00p.m.
